Normally, I am not one to give advice on hair products. Or really any beauty products. Its just not really my forte-. But I’ve been playing around with a frizzy hair cream that I am falling in love with every day! Some back-story first though. I was blessed (or I say cursed. Just because of how hard it is to manage, everyone says its just sooo pretty though) with my mothers thick. Thick. Like incredibly thick hair. Also, I was blessed with my fathers Italian genes. Which you guys know what that means. We are hairy. Like. Super hairy. So, not only is my hair thick. But there is SOOOOO much of it. And it grows. Fast. Even faster being pregnant. Most of the time I can’t keep up with it!
I’m not one for getting regular hair cuts either. As much as I should. I’ll wait, and wait and wait, and then eventually I get the desire to thin it a bit (makes it lighter!) and a little trim. I like my hair long so I don’t like drastic huge cuts, that and I don’t think I’m one for the shorter hair styles. So, my last hair cut was in October of 2016. Shortly after my husband and I moved into our new house. My friend thinned it out and helped me return my hair to its natural dark brown (there is still some light parts in it, but not horrible). I loved what she did with my hair, and my head felt so much lighter, and I even noticed I really didn’t get headaches at all after that. And you would think that it would make me get hair cuts more often? But moms, you know- sometimes its not easy to pamper ourselves when there is so much else that needs to be done, our needs/wants sometimes have to take the backseat.
So I looked around, knowing it could be a while until my next cut, I wanted to tame the frizz until then. I found this stuff that was like calling my name. Almost as if it knew me and was made, just for me. You put it in your hair while its damp/wet. And then, you don’t blow dry it. You let it air dry. Which most of the time that’s what I have time for lol! I loved the sound of it so I grabbed it and tried it. Plus it wasn’t too expensive either. Yet another win.
Most of the times I’ll wash my hair in the morning, and then dry it off with a towel, put the substance in my hair, brush it out and then just kink my hair back, making it give that curl again. (Basically you just grab hair by the handful. If that makes since. I’ll try to post a video of what I do.
The product itself is called Garnier Fructis Style Smooth Air dry anti-frizz cream. Its labeled 1 at the bottom, so I’m guessing there is 4 other products that would make this work even better if you got the rest of them. The directions as read on the bottle are “Apply a quarter sized amount to towel dried hair. Comb through from root to tip for even distribution. Let hair air dry.” And that’s it! How easy is that? Any mom with frizzy hair problems has time for even that!
I find it interesting. I’m always telling other mothers to pamper themselves. And that if they don’t take care of them, they wont find any energy or desire left to take care of the family. And yet, I’m the last person to follow my own advice. I go, and go, and go, and go, its not until I feel tired, or depressed that I start thinking “you know, I need to follow my own advice.” but its true! And I need to get in the habit. So to start out with I’m going to be getting my hair cut on Saturday, and when I have an extra bit of cash, I may even go get myself a french manicure! Even my husband had noticed that when I pamper myself, or take care of myself in the slightest bit, I take care of my family and household better. Make better meals, have a cleaner house, ect. So this is my encouragement to other moms. PLEASE! Take care of yourself, not only for yourself, but for your family too!
